Obituary of Darrell Jarvis

Darrell was born April 6, 1939 to Thelma McCoy and Richard Jarvis in Fredericton, NB.  His life was shaped by two major events.  The first was a tent meeting in Stanley, where he came to know the Lord.  The second was marrying Lynne London on October 7, 1967.  Darrell and Lynne were blessed with five wonderful children, Chris Royce Jarvis, Craig Richard Jarvis, Joni-Lynne (Jarvis) Orcurto, Sarah Autumn Joy Jarvis, and Jenna Rae Ashley Jarvis, plus an adopted daughter, Lisa Dawn (Waddell) O’Sullivan, their spouses and 17 grandchildren.  Professionally, Darrell was a manager with Apex Industrial Supply, and later was an Insurance and Financial Planner, where his ability to get to know anyone helped him to prosper.  His walk with Christ led him to multiple ministries.  Darrell helped found Halifax Christian Academy, served Bible Baptist Church in every role, supported Sunday suppers, worked closely with the Gideon’s, and volunteered at the Fairview Villa.  His guidance also led Open Door Community to build a school in Cambodia through Hope International.  The lives Darrell touched at work and through ministry are impossible to measure.  Personally, Darrell and his family loved to travel and see God’s creation.  Darrell experienced the culture of Japan, the hills of Ireland, the history of Spain and Morocco, the heat of Bermuda and Mexico, and had seen nearly every part of the United States.  At home, he toiled away in the garden and fish pond while ensuring every bird in the city had a place to eat.  Darrell’s ultimate gift was getting to know people.  Cashiers, servers, hotel staff, or just someone on the street.  Darrell wanted to get to know everyone’s life story which is what gathered everyone to his celebration of life on August 3, 2017.
