Obituary of James Paul Erly

It is with broken hearts that we announce the death of James Paul Erly of Halifax at home on November 20, 2017. He was a son of the late Luke Gerard Erly and Jeanne Francoise Tellier. As a French kid from Montreal, Jim lived three blocks from the Montreal Forum and revelled in watching Les Canadians try to teach the Toronto Maple Leafs how to play hockey, unsuccessfully. Jim lived a wonderful life, the centre of which was always his family. He was a kind and generous man and a superb role model for his children who he loved so very much and of whom he was so very proud. For 32 years, Jim would say that the best decision he ever made was to marry "his bride" Anne, who loved him more than words can ever express. Jim was the beloved husband of Anne MacDonald Erly and dear father of Joseph and Claire. Loving brother of Diane Lawson, Carole Bressan (Fausto) and Suzanne Belanger. He was predeceased by brother-in- law, Robert Lawson. Cremation has taken place under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, Purcell’s Cove Rd. at 10a.m. on Saturday November 25. A private family interment will take place at St. Michael’s Parish Cemetery, Corran Bann, P.E.I. at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Red Cross. It was Jim’s wish that there be no flowers.
