Obituary of Jessie Marie MacDonald

68, Harrietsfield. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jessie Marie “Mary” MacDonald, on April 20, 2018 in the Palliative Care Unit of the VG Site, QEII, after a lengthy illness. Born in Port Hawkesbury, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Florence (MacMaster) MacDonald.

Jessie was a devoted animal lover and was happy surrounded by all her pets that she called her babies. Her pastime was playing darts and she played for many years in leagues in Harrietsfield and Halifax. She was known for her love of Elvis and his music. Jessie worked for the Sisters of Charity, The Provincial Building and at Northwood Manor for 37 years.

She is survived by her soulmate and companion, Daryl Adams; brothers, Donald (Irene), Lower Sackville, Andrew, Lawrencetown; nieces, Denise and Dawn; nephews, Scott and Derrick, as well as many more loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Lorne, Daniel and Rufus.

Many thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at the VG 7A for their kind care and compassion given to Jessie.

Cremation has taken place under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, where visitation will be held on Monday, April 23 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 24 at 10:30 AM in St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. Family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to the SPCA or a shelter of your choice.
