Obituary of M. A. Leona Meagher

79, Timberlea, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, surrounded by her family. Born in Boudreauville, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Bernadette (Boudreau) Marchand. Leona was a long-time member of Sacred Heart Parish in Timberlea. She was formerly an active member of the CWL and taught Sunday School for many years. She worked for several years at Fitzgerald’s Grocery, where she met many people, remembering them by name. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who cherished time spent with her grandchildren and family. Leona will lovingly be remembered by her husband, John; son, Robert, Ottawa; daughters, Sharon (Bernie Brown), Timberlea, Celeste (Dalton Derrah), Highland Park, Christine (David Sturgeon), Timberlea; grandchildren, Daniel Brown, Ashley Snook and Amy Sturgeon; great grandchildren, Emily and Jacob Snook; brothers, Joe (Marie), Berwick, Peter, Etobicoke, Ont., Leo (Raymonde), Mississauga, Ont.; sister, Marie (Brian Fraser), Halifax; sister in-law, Susan, Petite De Grat. She was predeceased by brother, Alzear and two brothers in infancy; sister, Anne Teed. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax. In keeping with Leona’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, July 22 at 10 AM in the funeral home chapel.
