Obituary of Andrew J. Cairns

60, Halifax, formerly of Dartmouth and Lower Sackville, passed away on September 21, 2017 at Melville Lodge, Halifax, NS. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late James and Juanita (Diamond) Cairns. Throughout his life, Andy had worked in construction as a steam roller with Steed and Evans, and then with Municipal (Dexter) Construction, from where he retired after working for many, many years. Andy is survived by his children, Jennifer Cairns - Whittley (Floyd), Cindy Anthony (Doug), and Michael Cairns, and their mother, Barb, a sister, Darlene Poirier (Joseph), a brother, Ralph (Ferne) Cairns, as well as many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, two aunts, an uncle, as well as numerous cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Juanita Cairns. By request, cremation has taken place and a funeral service will be held on Friday, September 29, 2017 at 11 AM from J. Albert Walker Funeral Home Chapel. A reception will follow the service. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville, NS. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Andy may be made to Melville Lodge.
