Having worked with Wayne and over the years became friends, I always knew if I needed a good laugh or joke to pass along, Wayne was on my list. Whether talking dogs, hunting, or watching him toss a shovel full of apples to a herd of horses charging from the valley to telling me about the massive pig he now has, he always managed to have a laugh and have me leaving with a smile. Today, unfortunately I have no smile to leave with. I do, however, have all the memories, jokes, and joy you brought to my life. That I thank you for. My heart goes out to your family during this challenging time.
When no one else wanted to touch my untrained baby mini mule, Wayne came to the rescue and was her farrier until she went to her new home. We always had the *best* conversations, about any and everything, and always a good laugh. He often brought the kids along, and it was easy to see the deep love they shared. I am so very, very sorry the family's loss.
Wayne was so generous and helpful when it came to my grade one class at Crichton Park elementary in Dartmouth. Having always wanted to hatch chicks in my classroom, I asked around of a farmer who I could connect with and Waynes name was brought forward. For several years each Spring, I would take a Sunday afternoon and drive to Windsor to pick up the fertilized eggs to incubate chicks and bring back the fluffy yellow fat chicks to Wayne 6 weeks later. He would gracious take the chicks and wouldn't ask for any fee in return. That simple act of his generous nature brought so many happy memories to countless families at our school. It was highlight of my teaching year! Hearing of his passing brought me great sadness and I send my prayers to his wife and children. So many students benefited from Waynes generosity.
