Obituary of Audrey Mary Ryan Anderson-Gay

ANDERSON-GAY, Audrey Mary Ryan- Age 90 of Halifax, it is with great sadness we announce the passing of Audrey Mary Ryan Anderson-Gay.  Born on December 21st, 1934, in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late John and Florence (Hart) Ryan. She was the oldest girl out of 12 siblings and took pride in helping her mother.

After raising her family, she went to nursing school became a CNA, and settled doing private nursing in a private home. Audrey was an active member of the UPC, and she enjoyed teaching Sunday School, Bible School, and cooking at summer camp. Once Audrey retired from nursing, she traveled, played lots of board games, and hosted people in the home she shared with Alfred “Al”.  She also took up violin in retirement and loved it very much. Later in life she lived with her daughter and granddaughter and only recently went to live at Northwood Manor where she spent her final months.

Audrey started her own family with Leo Gay; 5 children, Philip Gay, Karen (Norman) Chambers, Kenny (Paula) Gay, Bill Gay, and Dwight (Angela) Gay; 7 grandchildren, Andrew, Michelle, Ryan, Jamie, Azreal, Katie, and Laila. She had a stepfamily from her second husband, Alfred “Al” Anderson. A special thanks to Linda (Anderson) Jones for all your kindness throughout the years.

Special thanks to the staff on the 4th floor at Northwood Manor for their care and compassion during Audrey’s stay and a special thanks to social worker Nancy. 

Arrangements have been entrusted to J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax.  In keeping with Audrey’s wishes, there will be a visitation from 10-11 a.m. on March 7th, 2025 followed by a Funeral Service held on March 7^th, 2025, at 11 a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel.  A private family burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hope for Wildlife in Audrey’s memory.
