Eva “Iona” MILLER (nee Dorey)- Fox Point
Passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on March 14, 2025 at Northwood – Halifax Campus.
Born in Fox Point, Nova Scotia on March 8, 1936, Iona worked for the Halifax School for the Blind, the Victoria General Hospital Nurse’s Residence and St. Mary’s University.
Iona was predeceased by her husband, Norman Miller, her mother, Eva Florence Dorey of Fox Point and father, Austin Dorey, of Fox Point. She was predeceased by her brothers, Lester Acker of Dartmouth, Lloyd Acker of Oromocto, New Brunswick, Bedford Dorey of Preston, Roy Dorey of Fox Point, Calvin Dorey of Martin’s River, sisters Hazel Murphy of Chester, Florence (Mrs. Gerald Demone) of Simms Settlement and Vivian Acker of Fox Point. She is survived by her sister Greta Dorey Crouse, of Fox Point, and many nieces and nephews.
Iona was an animal lover, but especially cats. Her brother Calvin gave her a cat Mitsy the year her mother passed away and Iona loved and cared for Mitsy for many years.
Iona will be buried at St. James Cemetery in Fox Point at #886 Hwy 329 and a comital service will be held at the gravesite at 11 AM on March 24, 2025. A reception will immediately follow at St. Luke's Anglican Church at 10 Shore Club Road, Hubbards, Nova Scotia.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Iona’s memory to SHAID Tree Animal Shelter.
