Obituary of Norma Jean Ferguson

It is with a heavy heart to announce the passing of my beautiful mother, Norma Jean Ferguson, age-70 of Halifax. She passed away peacefully at the QE2, on March 26th, 2025 and was surrounded by the love of her daughter and friends. Norma was the daughter of the late William and Alma Ferguson.

Norma spent several years working at Veith House, The Single Parent Centre, The Nova Scotia Psychiatric Hospital and The Three Oaks Foundation(a shelter for abused women and children) in Ontario.

Norma is survived by daughter Angela Ferguson (Anthony Slaunwhite), son Gregory Gillis (Catherine), grandchildren, Victoria, Silas, Caden and Gracie. Sisters, Linda Newman, Elizabeth Newell (Kevin), brother Rick(late wife Cindy). Norma was predeceased by her brother William and her beloved daughter, Kerrie.

Norma will be remembered for her loving nature, her kind and gentle soul, her beautiful smile and her piercing blue eyes. 

Thank you to the 8.2 staff of the QE2 for the compassionate care of Norma in her final days and ensuring that she was comfortable.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 3, 2025 at J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, 149 Herring Cove Rd Halifax.
