Obituary of Gary Stephen Macaulay
On March 28 our family was rocked by the sudden passing of our beloved brother, Gary.
All those who knew Gary are aware that he lived a simple life in his home in Boutiliers Point. Gary’s favourite times were spent working on his house, his gardens (he definitely had a green thumb), spending time with his family and friends, feeding the birds and listening to music.
Gary was quite artistic and used this skill to add some very unique touches to his home, including making use of tree burls to construct the spindles on his staircase.
Gary was a carpenter/handyman who had many clients throughout the Bay Area; many of whom considered and treated him like family.
If you visited Gary in the summer, his driveway lined with blue lights led you to his property where you would always be welcomed with a grin and a hug, followed by a garden tour. He knew the name of all his plants and was more than happy to share a cutting, if you wanted one. He loved to feed the birds and he honed the skill of calling in the crows at feeding time.
Aside from his family and friends, Gary’s love were his two Jack Russells, Jack and Red. He absolutely adored his little buddies and took great care of them even after they became blind and deaf. The three of them will now be re-united.
Gary is survived by his siblings Ronnie (Donna), Donnie (Peggy), Bobby, Judy (Robert) Butler, Alan, Cheryl (Mike) Degiano, David (Kim), Donna (Peter) Grant, Janice (Steven). Also survived by step daughters Candace Fillmore (Matt)and Michelle O’Neil (Donald) along with step-grandchildren Kaiden & Kylee; Samantha & Jillian. Gary was pre deceased by his parents Kenneth and Florence and sisters Diane, Linda, Carol Anne (in infancy)
Cremation has taken place and in lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hope for Wildlife.
Our family invites you to join us as we celebrate Gary’s life on Saturday April 12 at the Black Point Community Centre (Black Point Fire Hall) from 2-4. All his musician friends are encouraged to bring your instruments and share in a few tunes-he would love that!
