Obituary of Norman Elwood Beattie

BEATTIE, Norman Elwood- age 86, of Halifax.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Norman Elwood Beattie on April 3, 2025, at Parkstone Enhanced Care.

Born in Doaktown, New Brunswick, Norman was the son of Elwood and Myrna (Ballard) Beattie. He was known for his meticulous nature, a trait that served him well throughout his career in the computer industry with the Province of Nova Scotia. Beyond his professional life, Norman enjoyed playing baseball and golf, and his passion was playing the guitar. Music was a source of joy in his life. Norman was a fan of Western music and movies, with a particular fondness for cowboys. His family will fondly recall the annual Canda Day Parties, Thanksgiving weekends, and Norm and Janet's stories about Arizona in their travel trailer.

Norman is survived by his loving wife, Janet; his daughter Lori and her daughter Raeann; his daughter Jami, her partner Neal, and her son Justin; his son Shawn, his wife Jill, and their son Shawn William; and his sisters, Dorothy, Ruth, Sandra, and Alberta.

He was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Raymond; his sisters, Marguerite, Hadie, Mona, Elva, Doris, and Greta.

A celebration of Norman's life will be held on April 12, 2025 at 11:00 AM, at J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, located at 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax. In lieu of flowers, donations in Norman's memory may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
