Obituary of Emily Mary Doucette

It’s with great sadness we announce the passing of Emily Mary Doucette  (née Perry) on June 3, 2025, at the age of 84. Emily was born on September 9, 1940, in Deblois, PEI, to the late Henry and Edna (Doucette) Perry. 

Emily is survived by her daughters,  Darlene (Jim) of Richmond Hill, ON, Donna (Norman) of Knutsford, PEI, and Tracy (Arthur) of Halifax, NS.  She leaves behind her ten grandchildren, Brian (Kim), Michael (Elaina), Benn (Sophie), Robert (Cinthya), Priya (Will), Brent (Cyrena), Krystal (Alex), Sarah (Colby), Blake (Paige) and Cora Lee (Ryan); as well as 10 great-grandchildren. Emily is also survived by her siblings, Elmer (Mary) Perry, Kevin Perry, Lloyd Perry, Anne (Mike) Arsenault, and Jean Lane. 

Emily was predeceased by her daughter, Claire, both of her parents, and her brother, Gerard. 

Emily deeply loved her family and enjoyed the time they spent together. Her son-in-law affectionally called her “Emily of New Moon” after the beloved television show. Emily’s favourite pastimes were playing crib and listening to country music, especially George Jones and Charlie Pride. She enjoyed watching the Blue Jays. She loved a few cups of Red Rose tea every day with a ginger snap cookie while doing word search puzzles or a game of solitaire.  Emily enjoyed baking, especially at Christmas with traditional Acadian meat pies and rappie pie. She was always the first awake on Christmas morning to enjoy the excitement of Christmas. 

While living at Melville Gardens, she enjoyed participating in group activities like balloon toss, listening to music, attending special events and of course, relaxing with a comforting cup of tea. A special thanks to the staff at Melville Gardens for the loving care they provided to Emily. 

A funeral will be held at Good Shepherd Parish, ( St Agnes church) 6903 Mumford Road, Halifax on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 11 a.m. to celebrate Emily's life.
