Obituary of Valerie Claire Judith Slaunwhite

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Valerie Claire Judith Slaunwhite, who peacefully departed this life at the age of 71. Born on February 14, 1954, she was the daughter of the late James Francis Ryall (Frank) and Gladys Elizabeth Ryall (Dinn). A loving mother to Angela Marie Shortall and Krista Bona of Spryfield, Valerie dedicated her life to warmth, care, and simple pleasures. She will be deeply missed by her husband, Leslie Field who described her as his anchor and his reason for going home.

Valerie found joy in the little things, like a cup of tea, Sunday car rides, and the thrill of discovering treasures at yard sales. Her nurturing spirit shone brightly through her previous work at a daycare, where she touched the lives of many children. She was wonderful at creating craft ideas for her children and grandchildren, and they will fondly remember her ability to make every holiday memorable, whether it be wearing bells on her shoes while putting out Christmas gifts, or egg decorating and hunting for gifts at Easter. Valerie’s compassion extended to animals, a trait she inherited from her mother, Gladys. She especially loved cats, and cats loved her back! Valerie was well-known and deeply loved by ALL the stray cats in the neighbourhood. She rescued countless cats over the years, providing them with loving homes and endless affection. She even wrote a song about a cat when she was a child. Valerie's memory will be cherished and kept alive by all those whose lives she touched with her kindness and generosity.

Valerie was predeceased by her parents, brother, Nick Ryall, and brothers-in-law Bob, Scott and Foster.

Valerie is survived by her loving husband Leslie Field; children, Angela Marie Shortall (JP) and Krista Bona (Jonathan); step-children, Angela Marie Field- Poisson and Tracy-Lynn Field; grandchildren, Cameron, Dalayla, Alexa, Nathan; step grandchildren,Grace, Maya, Shay-lyn, and Justin; great-granddaughter, Rue; siblings, Lorraine (Laurie), Gail, Francis, Debbie, Noel (Joan), Lori, Mary (Karl), Mercedes, Sam (Jocelyn), Michele (Pat), Jackie (Rod), Leo (Cherie), David, Doug (Cathy), Sean (Danielle), and Tracey (Darren); and sister in law, Susan.
