Obituary of Karen Faye Ivey

Ivey, Karen – Age 79 Halifax

On June 12th, 2025, Karen Faye Ivey passed away peacefully at Melville Gardens, Halifax.

Born on January 11th 1946, in Halifax, Karen was the daughter of the late Gordon and Emily Ivey. She will be remembered for her kindness and her resilience even when faced with life’s challenges. She was a dedicated sister, aunt, daughter and a friend to so many.

She is survived by her brothers, Wayne (Lottie)and  Harry (Elizabeth); sisters, Brenda (Vern) and Holly (Stuart); many nieces and nephews; as well as several great nieces and nephews.

Karen was predeceased  by both her parents, Gordon and Emily; by her sister, Shirley; and brother-in-law, Ken.

The family would like to thank the 8 th floor staff at the QEII, as well as emergency room staff and paramedics who helped Karen in her last few weeks. A special thank you to the staff at Melville Gardens who have cared for Karen over the past 14 years. Karen was treated with so much kindness and respect; she thought of many as if they were family and for that our family is grateful.

There will be a celebration of life at J Albert Walker Funeral Home at 149 Herring Cove Rd, Halifax, NS B3P 1K6 on August 5, 2025, at 11:00 AM. A committal ceremony will take place at 11:00 AM on August 6, 2025 where both Karen and our mother Emily will be laid to rest.
