Obituary of Gerald Edward Duffy

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerald Edward Duffy at the Halifax Infirmary on Friday, June 13th, 2025.

Born July 20, 1944, in Halifax, Gerry was the son of Edward and Hilda Duffy. Gerry leaves behind his beloved wife, Diane (Sagadore), stepsons Todd (Darlene) and Dana; sisters, Sylvia and Sheila; numerous nieces and nephews, step-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Gerry was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Donald, Patrick (Bev), James, Carl, and Michael; nieces, Florence and Jessica; and nephew, Gregory.

Gerry was a hard-working man who cared deeply for his family. In his early years, he had many adventures travelling throughout the Maritimes working for the Bill Lynch fair. For over forty years, he drove taxi in HRM. He loved to entertain and he was always ready with a joke or a story. Through a chance encounter while driving cab, he met the love of his life, Diane and they were married in 1987.

Private cremation has taken place at his request. Donations can be made in Gerry’s memory to a charity of your choice. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
