Obituary of Neville Frederick Oliver

It is with immense grief that the family of Neville Frederick Oliver, of Spryfield, announce his sudden passing on Sunday, June 15th, 2025 at the age of 62. Born in Upper Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia on February 22nd, 1963 he was a son of the late Eric and Bertina (David) Oliver. He was the second youngest of 11 siblings.

Neville was married to Glenda (Voeltz) Oliver with whom he raised 5 children. He cared deeply for his family and took care of everyone with patience, love and kindness. He worked tirelessly as a concrete finisher, a career he began at the age of 16, often working with brothers, relatives and close friends. Later he worked side by side with his son Tyler on several construction projects. Every minute not spent on his craft, he spent serving his family – making food, taking care of his home, his wife or spending time with the kids. 

Neville was generous and friendly. He liked to carry on and crack jokes and had a nickname for everyone. He loved music and breaking into songs from his youth. He enjoyed spending time in Upper Hammonds Plains four wheeling and ski-dooing, and hanging out at the campground and fishing when the kids were little. 

He is survived by his Wife, Glenda; daughters Tyelisha, Tiffanee and Tayh-Liyah; son, Tyler and grand-children, Tyshon, Brooklyn, T’Shyiah, Tristyn, Maya, Nyiah, Tariq, Takai, Leila and great-granddaughter Tyiah. He is also survived by his brothers, Dennis (Karen), Clyde (Charlene), Alden (Tina), Curtis (Debra), Gary (Cindy) and sisters, Jessie, Sybil, Gail and many nieces, nephews and friends. Neville was predeceased by his parents, Eric and Bertina; sister, Linda Anderson; brother, Clifford Oliver; nephew, Jamie Oliver and his Beloved son, Tristan Oliver.

Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. Visitation and Funeral service will all be held on Wednesday, June 25th at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Upper Hammonds Plains. Visitation will be held from 12:00PM-1:00PM with the service beginning at 1:00PM. Flowers in memory of Neville may be sent to J. Albert Walker Funeral Home. 

“Dad was our rock - steady, kind, and always there when we needed him. He gave so much of himself to make sure we were okay. We take comfort knowing he’s now with Tristan, his beloved son - probably laughing, probably working, probably singing, and playing the bass and drums together like they used to. We will miss him every day, but we know he’s watching over us with the same love he always gave in life.”
