Obituary of Walter Stoodley

With heavy hearts and deep love, we share that Walter (Wally) Thomas Stoodley, age 75, passed away on July 23rd at the Halifax Infirmary. Born in Boxey, Newfoundland, Wally was the beloved son of the late Ada and William “Bud” Stoodley.

Wally lived a life full of adventure and heart. In his younger years, he travelled the world by sea, a journey that sparked countless stories and shaped the strong, compassionate man we all knew. Whether on the water or on dry land, Wally was always thinking of others. His love for his children and grandchildren was unwavering, and his deep care for family and friends was at the very core of who he was.

He was a jokester at heart, with a warm laugh and a playful spirit that could lift even the heaviest of days. If he could make you smile, he would and he usually did.

Wally leaves behind his children: Amber (Chris), Steven (Kitty), and Selina; his cherished grandchildren: Chloe, Kaylee, Kasondra, Zander, and Kaiden; and his siblings: Junior (Ruth), Sheila (Don), Darren, Claude (Shirley), and Christine (Bob). He is predeceased by his parents and his dear sister, Melinda.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 31st, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Spryfield Legion. Wally’s family would be so grateful to hear the stories, memories, and laughter that shaped his life. Whether you share them in person or choose to write them down in the memory box that will be available, your words will become treasured keepsakes for his children and grandchildren.
