Obituary of Anna Elizabeth Buckler
BUCKLER, Anna Elizabeth= Age 90, of Clementsvale, Annapolis County, NS.
Our dear sweet Anna passed away Saturday, August 23, 2025, in the Veterans’ Memorial Hospital in Halifax. Anna was born on January 9, 1935 and she was predeceased by her parents, Otis and Victoria (Robbins) Buckler of Clementsvale. Anna spoke often with loving memories of all her parents, siblings, and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four siblings; Lillis (Ray) Bartlett of Truro, brother Richard Robbins Buckler (survived by his wife Marie), Vivian (Raymond) Gerdes of Edmonton, and Franklin Buckler of Clementsvale. Anna leaves behind her brothers; Larry (Alice) Buckler of Halifax and Gladwin (Margaret) of Clearwater area, Florida, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Anna first worked at Cornwallis Base at the age of fifteen for several years. She and her sister Vivian travelled extensively in Europe as young adults, and later they moved to Alberta. Anna worked mostly in Edmonton as an assistant to the City Manager, then later as a staff supervisor for TELUS Alberta. Anna made many vacations home to Nova Scotia, visiting all family. She travelled to Germany and toured Europe again in the 1970’s with Richard and Marie Buckler, children Sharon and Brent. Anna frequently spent winter vacations in St. Pete Beach area of Florida with Richard, Marie and brother Gladwin, and sister Lillis. Anna enjoyed skiing, exercise, and group singing. She was very efficient and loved reminiscing with us nieces of her life when she was younger. Anna was a dedicated member of Greenfield Baptist Church in Edmonton since 1998. Thank you to her friends at Greenfield church for sending messages to Anna while she was in the hospital. She loved Romans 15:13 which reads - “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Special thanks to Anna’s niece, Gail (Rene) Belanger, and their sons Scott and Brent, who assisted with Anna’s move to the People’s Park in Moncton in 2021. Then, in December of 2022, at the age of 88, Anna moved to Halifax with the help of her dear friend Alphonse Bourgeois of Moncton. Niece Sharon Fraser, her daughter Rachael, and Brent Fraser visited Anna several times a week, frequenting Halifax restaurants and walking on the Halifax Waterfront. Cousins Margie (Barrie) Rondeau, Cathy (Peter) Henderson, and Kevin (Melissa) Buckler, who all visited Anna frequently and for their dinners out with Alice and Larry as well. Also a special thanks to nieces Lynn Cormier and Raylene Synnott for calling and visiting Anna.
We would like to thank the staff and friends at the beautiful seniors' living facility, Melville Heights. Special thanks to all the special nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, social workers, the sweet staff at 4B Centennial Hospital, the Geriatrics 9th Floor and Geriatrics 3rd Floor of the Veteran’s Memorial Hospital.
