Obituary of Lincoln Arnold Baker
BAKER, LINCOLN ARNOLD: 85, Herring Cove, NS, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 7, 2025 at Parkstone Enhanced Care, Halifax.
Lincoln first trained as a carpenter in North Sydney in 1966. His remarkable skill and craftsmanship were evident in the many homes he built including the Baker family home. He later worked on the Halifax waterfront as a stevedore and became a proud member of the International Longshoremen’s Association, Local 269, for 43 years. He was a man of great spirituality and faith living his life as a devoted and practicing Catholic.
Born April 5, 1940, in Halifax, he was the son of the late Lincoln S. and Nora M. (LaPierre) Baker. He was predeceased by nephew, David Pippy and daughter-in-law, Monica.
He is survived by his wife, Henrica (Rita). He will also be lovingly remembered as a father, grandfather and brother by sons, Darren (Debbie), Rockland, Ont.; Christopher (Stephanie), Dartmouth; Bruce (Cindy Meakin), Halifax; grandchildren, Alexandre, Adriana, Fiona Peasey (Zachary), Charlotte and Maxwell; brothers, Alan (Alice), Lower Sackville, Edward, Halifax, Lawrence (Margaret), Bedford, Gregory (Johanna), Dartmouth; sisters, Sharon (Barb), Halifax, Gloria Pippy, Halifax, Sylvia (Bert) Grover, Halifax, Jeanette (Robert) Harrington, Hacketts Cove, and Rosemarie (Michael Hogan), Halifax, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 from 2:30pm-4:30pm and 6:00pm-9:00pm, at J.A Walker Funeral Home 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, September 11, 2025 at 11:00 am at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church (formerly St. Michael’s), 6 St. Michael’s Ave. Halifax, with Fr. Francesco Pirisi as celebrant. Reception in the church hall immediately following the service. A private family burial will be held at a later date at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Herring Cove.
