Heather Jean (Lantz) Smallman, 93, passed away on September 19, 2025, in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Heather was born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, to Dorothy Mae Brodie and Joseph Pulsifer Lantz on June 28, 1932. She attended Prince of Wales College (Charlottetown) and graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from Dalhousie University (Halifax) in 1954.
She was married to John Smallman for 63 years, spending most of her married life in Fredericton, New Brunswick. After John’s death in 2017, she returned to Halifax, living next door to her sister Elizabeth at Parkland at the Gardens. She had many varied interests, including gardening, swimming, yoga, rug hooking, and quilting. Many of her quilts and rugs are prized possessions of her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Heather is survived by her daughters, Caroline (Christopher) and Megan (Henry Zerbin), her grandchildren, Catherine (Scott) Ritchie and Robert (Bev Larssen) Williams, great-grandchildren, Brody and Quinn Ritchie, siblings, Elizabeth (Alan) Abbott, Brodie (Charlotte) Lantz, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John Smallman, brother, Rory (Mary) Lantz, and son-in-law, Christopher Williams.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude for the warmth and friendship offered by residents and staff of Parkland at the Gardens, where Heather lived for the last seven years.
