Obituary of Joshua Victor Fiander Best

It is with great sadness that the family of Joshua “Josh” Best announces his passing on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at the QEII Halifax Infirmary, surrounded by loved ones. Born in Port au Basques, NL, he was the son of Verna Best and the late Alton Fiander. 

Josh had a heart of gold, never said no to anyone in need or want. He loved his music, guitars and was a true die-hard Montreal Canadiens Fan. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. 

He leaves to mourn with best memories, his little man, son, Caleb Best; his mom, Verna Best; sisters, Shana (Paul) and Holly (Blaine); nephews, Christian and Colton; niece, Fallyn; grandmother, Melita Best; very special friend, Frank Skinner; as well as a large circle of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Josh was predeceased by his father, Alton Fiander; grandfather, Joseph Best and uncle, Joey Best. 

In keeping with Josh’s wishes cremation has taken place. A service will be held at a later date in Newfoundland. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Josh’s memory to his loved ones, verna_best@outlook.com
