The song that was played after the Prayers of the Faithful was written in memory of our late Grandfather Claude Cormier who parished at sea in a small lobster fishing boat along with his brother-in-law, Stephen Jones in 1933. Our dad was only 3 yrs old at the time. Dad asked that this song to be played at his funeral.
Written by Joe Fitzgerald and sung by Michael Myers both of Prince Edward Island

Vic had a special place with the Shea family. He and my father Kevin Shea were best friends growing up. Kevin had a boat and Vic a motor and together they fished, before leaving PEI still in their teens. They joined the navy and met again in basic training, and remained in contact, it was always a treat to visit the Cormier household and to have them visit us. A visit to PEI was never complet without visiting the Cormier cottage and seeing Vic and Bernadette.
We were blessed to know Vic, he made the world a better place.

I am so sorry to have read about Mr. Cormier's passing. I remember him from the rink, driving the 1980's version of a Zamboni (also known as a farm tractor). He always took the time to have a chat, and talk about pretty much anything. His ice was known as the best in Halifax. we have lost one of the 'good guys'. My thoughts are with you all at this very difficult time.

Dear Bernie and family. I was so saddened to hear of Vic’s passing. I always looked up to him and always enjoyed chatting with him. So happy I was able to visit last fall and spend a few hours talking about old times. So many wonderful memories to cherish. Thinking of you all and sending all my love and warm thoughts to you all. Rest in peace Vic. I love you and will cherish the memories at the cabin in PEI

My condolences to the Cormier family. As a young boy growing up in Spryfield I became close friends with Wayne. His father Victor would take us here, there and everywhere to play hockey. I remember him as a great man and an incredible father. Bill Yarn.
