Obituary of Robert Lloyd Craig

July 15, 1937 – December 3, 2025

Robert Craig, age 88, of Lower Sackville, passed away peacefully at home on December 3, 2025. Born in Charlottetown, P.E.I., he was the son of the late Stella and Gordon Craig.

Robert is survived by his wife, Marlene (Burke), with whom he celebrated 70 years of marriage on November 24, 2025. He leaves behind three daughters: Susan LeBlanc (Brian), Deanna Hill (Phil), and Roberta Audette (Ron).  Bob was a devoted grandfather to six grandchildren — Brian LeBlanc (Shirley), Vanessa Greenwood, Brittany Drake, Ashley Audette, Nicole Audette (Rob), and Jennifer Crowley (Darren). He was also a proud great-grandfather to eight great-grandchildren.  He is survived by his brother Allen, and was predeceased by his brother Gordon.

Bob served with the Royal Canadian Navy from 1955 to 1981, achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer. After retiring from the Navy, he worked at Dome Petroleum for five years. Later, he and Marlene founded their own business, Nova Courier, which they operated together until their final retirement.

A celebration of life and Legion service will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 11:00 am- 1:00 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion, Calais Branch, in Lower Sackville.  The family would like to thank Cindy Bell and Dr. General of the Palliative Care Unit, as well as Dr. Chiasson, Dr. Boudreau, the Department of Veterans Affairs, Chris from Medigas, and the Royal Canadian Legion — especially Marjorie and Ron — for their exceptional care, compassion, and support during this difficult time.  The family also wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to J. Albert Walker Funeral Home for their kindness, respect, and professionalism they have shown to all of us.

From ocean winds to quiet shore,
He showed us love and so much more.
A Navy man, courageous and kind,
A heart like his is rare to find.
Beside him stood his loving wife,
His steadfast partner through all of life.
Three daughters held within his heart,
And six grandkids who loved him from the start.
Eight great-grandchildren blessed his days,
Each one a part of him in special ways.
So loved he was, more than he knew;
His legacy lives on in all that we do.
