Obituary of Ivan Powers

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ivan Peter Joseph Powers at age 87.

Ivan passed away peacefully at the Halifax Infirmary on Dec.10, 2025. He was the youngest of three children and the son of the late Peter and Flora Powers. Ivan was born in NB and moved to Nova Scotia in the mid-60s.

He was in the Navy and also drove buses for many years.  

Ivan loved to visit his sister Leena with his family; he found much joy in spending time with them.

He is predeceased by his wife, Loretta; sister, Clementine (Durett); and daughter, Michelle (Publicover).

Survived by sister Lena (Holmes), daughter Rita (Moore), son Gordon Powers, and his two sons-in-law, Terry and Chris, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a funeral on Saturday, January 3, 2026, 11 AM at J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, 149 Herring Cove Rd, Halifax, NS B3P 1K6. All are welcome to come celebrate Ivan’s life.

Donations can be made to the Camp Hill Hospital in his honor.
