Obituary of John Roy Phillips

Passed away peacefully at Dartmouth General Hospital on Saturday, December 20th at the age of 77 surrounded by his loving family.

He was a loving husband to Anna for 55 years; father to Steven and Melissa; and brother to his sister, Jean. John enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Landon, Emily, Charlotte, Hayden and Jordyn. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Marjorie Phillips and his sister, Doreen Phillips from Ontario.

As a young man he served his country with the Royal Canadian Navy as an electrician on many ships over his service. After his service he became and Electrical Contractor and ran his own business J.R. Phillips Electrics until his retirement. John loved to travel with his wife to various points in the Caribbean, they looked forward to their annual trips. These trips were always taken in style to enjoy life. During his free time John was an active brother in the Masons and enjoyed the fellowship at various lodges in Halifax. He loved baseball and the Toronto Blue Jays. He focused that interest as an active Little League coach and umpire during the 80s and 90s.

Cremation has taken place under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. A Masonic service will take place at a later date in the upcoming spring/summer. Donations can be made in John’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada
