I’ve been leading a Rosary prayer night at Melville for a number of years, and Shirley was always there, prayerful, funny, kind and just a joy to be around. My deepest condolences to her family and friends on the loss of this very dear lady, you will be in my prayers - and I’m sure she is with our Blessed Mother, praying for you all!

We are so sorry to hear of Shirley’s passing. She was such a dear woman! Our daughter, Claire shared these memories of Shirley. “ I despised doing door-to-door fundraising in school. Shirley’s house was one I wasn’t wasn’t afraid of going to because she was so warm and generous, and probably bought whatever item I was selling. Her cherry pound cakes were so good I’ll never forget them!” I remember Shirley from St Peter’s church. Shirley a women of deep faith who always joined our adult Faith sessions, and was so interested and so humble and always had a kind word for me. Truly a lovely woman! Our condolences go to Mary Trott , and to all Shirley’s family!

Shirley was a sweet lady. I always said there goes Joe MacLellan with his girl-friends. He was so kind to take the ladies to church. I didn't know her well, but she always had a smile and and her eyes always showed kindness. Our condolences to all who loved her.

Shirley's kindness reached so many. She cared deeply for others and lived a life well lived. I'll always remember her lovingly, yet proudly, stating, "These are my people," when surrounded by family--whether they were behaving properly or not!
Shirley was always proper. My father never missed an opportunity to argue with Shirley over the pronunciation of 'Z' (zee vs zed). You can guess who always won. We love you Shirley.
A donation to Feed Nova Scotia has been made in her name.
