Obituary of Melvin "Curtis" Slaunwhite

Melvin " Curtis" Slaunwhite age 69,of Terence Bay, passed away peacefully in the Veterans Memorial Hospital on February 8th, 2026, with his family by his side. Born in Terence Bay on January 15, 1957, he was the son of the late Melvin and Melissa Slaunwhite. Curtis is survived by his loving brother Scott (Tracey) and nieces Jessica (Matt) and Tiffany (Michael).

Curtis worked at Rand Electric for 30 years and was known as the "starter man". If he couldn't fix it, nobody could. He loved his Ford trucks and took pride in the care he took in them. He enjoyed going for drives to the country and photographing wildlife.

He spent endless hours with his best friend Johnny, and they were always getting into something.

Curtis was the best big brother to Scott and brother in law to Tracey, always there to lend a helping hand. He took his Uncle role very seriously, and there was not anything he wouldn't do for his nieces. He had the patience of a saint and was a kind man who will be missed immensely.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff on the 4th floor of the Veterans Memorial Hospital for being so loving with his care.  There will be a graveside service for the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada.
