Obituary of Werner Niederstrasser
Werner Niederstrasser passed away on April 21, 2026 at Camphill Veterans Memorial Hospital in Halifax, NS. Born August 22, 1935, in Berlin, Germany, he was a son of the late Alfred and Gertrude Niederstrasser.
He emigrated to Canada in 1953. He was a tool and die maker at Massey Ferguson in Toronto for over 30 years and then Dehavilland for 10 years. He and his family travelled to Nova Scotia, South Shore, almost every summer. They loved the ocean. Werner was an excellent soccer player in Germany and brought that talent to Toronto. He loved to be active, swimming, going to the beach, boating, scuba diving, gardening, and playing cards. He and June spent many years ballroom dancing.
Surviving are his loving wife of 66 years, June (Harnish), his daughter, Debra “Debby” Grix (Mark), Keswick, ON, a grandson, Kenneth Grix (Jessie Schneider), Keswick, ON, a granddaughter, Monica Grix, Newmarket, ON and great-grandsons, Dominic and Jameson, Keswick, ON. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as numerous family members in Germany. He was predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Gertrude of Germany.
At Werner’s request, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral.
