Obituary of Maria Adele Gallant

GALLANT (Caissie), Maria Adele- Age 78, passed away at home peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, April 26, 2026. Born in Pleasant Ridge, New Brunswick, Maria made Halifax, (Kline Heights), her home for the past 57 years, where she built a life centered around family, love, faith, and friendship.

She leaves behind to mourn her beloved husband of 57 years, Ernest Gallant; son, Peter (Erin); daughter, Patricia (Darren); cherished grandchildren, Chase, Jessica (Aaron), and Jeremy (Melissa); precious great-granddaughters, Harper and Myla, who brought her immense joy. She is also lovingly remembered by her sister Lorette, brother Auguste (Diane), numerous brothers and sister in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Maria was a devout Catholic whose faith was a guiding force throughout her life. She faithfully attended weekly Mass at St. John the Baptist Church until its closing, after which she continued her devotion by watching daily Mass on television. If you stopped by for a visit and a chat she may not have any sweets but there was always tea, coffee and of course wine. 

She was a woman who found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved knitting, enjoyed her weekly crib games with her partner Ernie, and treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her warmth, kindness, and quiet strength touched everyone who knew her.

Arrangements and cremation has taken place under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax.  In keeping with Maria's wishes there will be a visitation held on Wednesday May 6th, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with the service following directly after at Walker’s Funeral Home, 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax. Her memory will be forever cherished and lovingly remembered. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society.

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she brightened with her love and gentle spirit.
