Catherine Parsons

Obituary of Catherine Pearl Parsons

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Catherine Pearl Parsons, on May 22, 2026, at the Halifax Infirmary, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Reserve Mines, Glace Bay, Catherine was one of nineteen children born to Angeline and Thomas MacDonald. She dedicated her life to her family and was happiest when surrounded by those she loved most.

Catherine is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, Thomas David Parsons; her children, Angeline Mosher (Brian) of Inverness, Tommy (Vel) of Edmonton, Rose King (Neil) of Dartmouth, and Joseph Parsons and Jeanie Parsons, both of Halifax. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren: Nicole Cherry of Dartmouth, Jason Dorey of New Brunswick, Lorianne Crawley of Edmonton, T.J. Parsons of Edmonton, Melissa Mosher of Dartmouth, Nicolas Parsons of Halifax, Aaron Parsons of Edmonton, and Tara Leanne Dorey of Dartmouth, as well as her nine great-grandchildren.

She shared a particularly special bond with her great-grandson Parker, who could always make her laugh, and baby Lyla, who never failed to bring a smile to her face.

Catherine is also survived by her brother, Edmond MacDonald of Eastern Passage, along with many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She is now reunited with her beloved son, David.

Catherine will be remembered as someone who loved playing Bingo, spending time with her best friend Jeanie, and playing games on the computer. She shared a very special bond with her youngest daughter, Jeanie, who was not only her daughter but also her best friend.

Above all else, Catherine will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her loving heart, and the warmth she brought to everyone around her. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Catherine’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of the QEII, 8.4 floor, for their kindness, compassion, and care during this difficult time.

Cremation has taken place under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 1, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, followed by a service beginning at 4:30 PM. A reception will follow the service.
