Obituary of June Redden
Jean “June” Redden
1934 – 2026
It is with broken hearts that we, the family, announce June’s passing on May 23rd, 2026, surrounded by those who loved her at the Valley View Villa, Riverton, at the beautiful age of 92. June was born in New Ross on April 21st, 1934, to the late Arthur (Lynwood) and Samantha Turner. She moved to Halifax with her sister Fay as a young woman, she found a job at Simpson Sears. She met the love of her life, Carl, who won her over with his charming humour, and married in 1955 in Spryfield, raising two daughters. She was a stay-at-home Mom until her girls were older, and she then returned to work performing clerical duties at a doctor’s office part-time. She also volunteered at her church, teaching Sunday School, and at Camp Hill with her sister, Fay.
June’s home was welcome to all, and the best aromas always filled the air from her cooking and baking. She was a true Christian woman, always giving thanks for everything and leaning on our Lord. She saw the good in everyone. She will always be remembered for her kindness, gentleness, compassion, and her love for all her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers. All who knew June loved her; she became a “second Mom” to many. She was the glue that held our family together, and was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin, mother-in-law, trusted friend, and lovely wife.
She will be greatly missed by her daughters, Kim Redden (Rick), Windsor, NS; and Wendy Clark (Tim), Pictou, NS; her grandchildren, Blair, Morgan (Laura), Aaron, Amber (Ryan); her great-grandchildren, Liam (Magdalen Islands), Sawyer, Story, and bonus great-grandchildren, Drew and Michael. June was predeceased by her loving husband of 51 years, Carl; sisters Gwendolyn (Jeep) Bezanson, Fay Armsworthy; brothers, Lynwood and Aldon Turner.
The Family would like to thank all the nurses, care providers, and staff at Valley View Villa, Riverton, for their extraordinary kindness and compassion shown to June during her time there. You were all so wonderful.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 30th, at 11 am, at the J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, 149 Herring Cove Road, with a reception to follow. There will be no visitation.
Family flowers only by request, in lieu, donations in June’s memory can be made to any charity that benefits children. June’s favourite colour was yellow, so if anyone would like to wear yellow, please do.
