Jim Crewe

Obituary of Jim Crewe

CREWE, James “Jim” William- It is with profound sadness that the family of James (Jim) William Crewe announces his passing on June 1, 2026, while surrounded by the love of his family.

Left with a lifetime of loving memories are his beloved wife of almost 51 years and best friend Ruby, his treasured daughter Jennifer and wonderful son-in-law Trevor, and his beautiful granddaughter Quinn, who was the light of her "Pa's" life.  Also left to mourn are his sisters Annie (Gordon), Aneitha, and Maxine (Angus), along with many nieces and nephews and a large circle of extended family and friends.  He will also be dearly missed by our sweet family pets, Bronson, Bru, and Snickers, whom he adored.

Jim is predeceased by his parents, William and Agnes, sister Stella, in-laws James and Hilda, brothers-in-law Freeman and Fred, and sister-in-law Lillian.

We would like to extend our unending thanks to the staff at Saint Vincent's Nursing Home, who provided him with exceptional care throughout his time there.  We are so grateful for the connections he made and laughs that he shared with you all.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the staff at the QEII Intensive Care Unit for the compassion and support shown by the staff there during this time.

Jim was proud to have grown up in Ramea, Newfoundland and Labrador, and was happy to now call Halifax home.  He had a kind and generous spirit, which he showed one last time with his gift of being an organ donor.  He will be remembered as someone who loved to laugh and loved to sing.  He loved days with his family, especially when those days involved a show at Neptune Theatre.

The greatest joy of his life was being Quinn's grandpa, and the special connection that they shared.

“Pa, you are the best grandpa in the whole world" – Love, Quinn

Arrangements and cremation have been entrusted to J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, Halifax.  A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at a later date.  In memory of Jim, donations can be made to Neptune Theatre, or a Charity of one’s choice.
