Obituary of David Leo Gaudet

David Leo Gaudet

May 11, 1968 – June 22, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Leo Gaudet, who passed away peacefully at home in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on June 22, 2026, at the age of 58, surrounded by family.

Dave was a loving son, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend whose kindness, sense of humor, and generous spirit touched the lives of everyone who knew him. Born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia, he also spent time living on Vancouver Island, BC, but no matter where life took him, he always felt most at home near the ocean.

Dave found happiness in life's simple pleasures. He loved gardening, playing horseshoes, and spending time outdoors. Some of his happiest moments were kayaking with his cousin Shellie and nephew Dan, taking his daughter on bike rides, eating spaghetti and keeping busy with whatever project needed doing. He was known for his strong work ethic, his willingness to lend a hand, and his ability to make people feel welcome.

Dave leaves behind his loving mother, Jean Gaudet; his sister, Vicky Gaudet; his uncles and aunts John and Melissa Shadbolt, Joanna Shadbolt with Ken, Jane ("Bibbi") Petrossie, Jocelyn and Don Taylor, Barb Gaudet, Jeff and Donna Shadbolt, Barry and Debbie Gaudet, and Marie Gaudet; his cousins Shellie Petrossie, Sheri Petrossie, and Scott Taylor; his daughter, Chantelle Sutton; his nieces and nephews Dan Gaudet (who was raised more like a brother) with Holly, Desiree Paquin with Jordan, Michael Gaudet, Cory Gaudet, and Marcel Gaudet; as well as many beloved second cousins, including Joseph, Mateo, Devon, and Silas. He also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him deeply, and of course, his cat Sassy.

Dave was predeceased by his father, David Gaudet.

He will be lovingly remembered by his close friends Terry Willis, Rob Lang, Ken Parsons, lifetime partner Constance Sutton and many others whose lives were made better by knowing him, including his friends from SMU (Saint Mary's University)

To Chantelle, Dave was simply Dad. Through his unwavering love, guidance, and support, he showed that family is not defined by blood alone, but by devotion, loyalty, and unconditional love.

Arrangements have been entrusted to J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, Halifax.  In keeping with Davids wishes there will be a Celebration of life held on Sunday June 28th, 2026 from 2-4 at the Golden Age Social Centre Society, 212 Herring Cove Road, Halifax.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made out to your choice of charitable organizations in Davids memory.

Forever loved, forever remembered, forever missed.
