Obituary of Bernice Marjorie Baker

87, Halifax, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 28th, 2013 at the QEII Health Sciences Centre with family by her side. Born in Harbour Breton, NL she was a daughter of the late Isaac and Blanche Buglar. Bernice moved to Halifax in 1950 where she met and married Roy on July 3rd, 1954. She was a member of Emmanuel Anglican Church as well as an active member of the Emmanuel Ladies Fellowship. She was also a Member of Emerald Chapter #58 Order of Eastern Star and was an officer there for a number of years. Bernice was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was always there for her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Bernice leaves behind her son, David (Lynne Roehl); grandchildren, Gregory (Margot), Michael (Amber) and Elyssa; five great grandchildren, Hudson, Maeve, Owen, Taylor and Theodore, all of Calgary. She was predeceased by husband, Roy Carleton Baker in 1996; sister, Edith Joyce Roberta Buglar, and half-sister, Una Violet Buglar; half-brother, Robert Isaac Conrad. A heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nurses at the QEII ICU and IMCU. Arrangements are under the direction of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax (477-5601), where visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 2 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, with an Eastern Star Service at 7 PM. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 3 at 1 PM at Emmanuel Anglican Church, Rev. Don Shipton officiating, followed by a reception in the church hall; interment to take place in St. John’s Cemetery. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bernice can be made to the IWK Health Centre Foundation or Shriners Hospitals for Children – Canada.
