Obituary of Joan Shirley Forbes

FORBES, Joan Shirley:  81, Truro, NS, formerly of Halifax, NS, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at ColchesterEastHantsHospital, Truro, NS.  Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Gordon and Elizabeth (Skeffington) Westhaver.  Joan had worked for Simpsons and the Armdale Yacht Club and later in life was a homemaker.  She was a loving wife and mother, who was dedicated to her family.  Joan is survived by her husband of 61 years, Donald W. Forbes, her son, Donny Forbes, a sister, Lillian McBride, her very special and lifelong friend, Bonita Boussey, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a brother, Murray Westhaver, sisters, Ida Mae Brennan, Violet Paawu, and Alma Ferguson, a niece, Joan Brennan and nephews, Jerry McBride and Thomas Brennan.             Arrangements are under the care of JA Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, NS (477.5601), where visitation will take place on Thursday from 4-8 PM.  The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 17, 2014 at 2 PM from the funeral home chapel.  A reception will follow the service.  Interment will take place at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Lower Sackville, NS.  Family flowers only, in lieu, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Nova Scotia, the Diabetes Association of Nova Scotia, or the VON.  Words of comfort may be sent to the family by visiting www.walkerfh.com
