Obituary of James "Bruce" Keefe

Keefe; James "Bruce" Age 93 of Halifax , passed away peacefully at his residence in Ivany Place on March 22, 2014. Born in Halifax on December 24, 1920, Bruce was a son of the late Luke and Kathryn Keefe. Bruce served with the Armed Forces Embarkation Transit Unit ( RCOC ) out of Halifax during the second world war. He went on to work with the C N I B Cater Plan and retired in 1983. Those who were close to Bruce knew he was very active and interested in sports. He was an avid skater who was well known at local rinks. Bruce was survived by his sister Lorraine Boyd, Dartmouth, NS; Brother Eric of Calgary, AB ; and by his long time friend Margaret Hatchette along with many nieces and nephews. Bruce was pre-deceased by his sister Patrica Casey of Winnipeg and brother Terry Keefe of Halifax. Bruce loved being at Ivany Place on the Hammonds Plains Road and wished to thank the team of care givers who supported him. He also expressed thanks for the wonderful care he received in the Halifax Infirmary/QE II. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. (477-5601). A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 4,2014 at 9:30 am in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Oxford Street, Halifax, with Fr. Owen Connolly officiating. Reception at the church to follow. Internment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. Words of comfort may be left at www.walkerfh.com.
