Obituary of Jean McAlpine Logue

Jean McAlpine Logue, aged 89, died after a lengthy illness, on April 15, 2014, at Maplestone Enhanced Care Facility in Halifax Nova Scotia.  Jean was born May 31, 1924 in Saint John, New Brunswick, the only daughter of the late Jean (McAlpine) and Harry MacFarlane. Jean thoroughly enjoyed the company of her family and friends.  In 1947, Jean married the love of her life Francis (Frank) Logue.  Both were avid bridge players and spent many hours enjoying playing bridge with their friends as partners.  They were married in Saint John where both of them were born and later moved to Fredericton NB in 1955. In addition to raising their three children, she also typed doctorate thesis for candidates at UNB in Fredericton.  Later she worked for the Department of Labor and Advanced Education as an administrative assistant in the Human Resources branch. At the passing of her husband in 2009, she moved from Fredericton NB to Halifax NS to be handier to family.  While in Fredericton she was a member and regular supporter of Grace Memorial Baptist Church. She will be missed by her two; much loved precious grand dogs, Layla and Murphy.   Jean is survived by one son, Stephen and his wife, Margaret (McGinty) from Ottawa; and one daughter, Susan Logue,  from Halifax, two grandsons, Scott and Jonathan Burley, one grand-daughter, Jocelyn Logue, 2 great grand-daughters, Ali Burley and Roslyn Burley and one great grand-son, Cameron Burley.  In addition, she is survived by two nephews Arthur and Jaime Logue.  She is predeceased by her husband; sons Richard and David. There will be a memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent in her name to Cancer Society, or the Palliative Care program at Maplestone Enhanced Care Facility.
