Obituary of Lucinda "Lucy" Mae Griffiths

GRIFFITHS, Lucinda "Lucy" Mae:  75, Herring Cove, NS, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on June 23, 2014.  Born in Half Islands Cove, NS, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence Hendsbee and Marguerite (Greencorn).  Affectionately known as Lucy, she had worked at many places throughout her life including Birks, Halifax Seed, Tim Horton’s, and as a cleaner, all the while raising her 7 children.  Her life revolved around her family, they were her life.  She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly and will be remembered for always being present in their lives, always being part of their lives.  She enjoyed knitting, pickling, and gardening.  Lucy is survived by her sons, Mike (Liz), Wayne (Sher), and Ronald "Topper" (Cindy), her daughters, Charleen Kidson (Ron), Paula MacDonald (Weldon, "Boomy"), and Joanne "Blanche" Slade (Matthew, "Buddy"), her special sister, Paulette Andrews, as well as her 12 treasured grandchildren and 5 precious great-grandchildren.  Lucy was predeceased by her husband, Ronald Joseph Griffiths, her parents, a daughter, Gail Griffiths, and a grandson, Ryan Kidson.  The family wishes to express a heartfelt thanks to the Palliative Care Team nurses and doctors for all the care and compassion shown during this time.   Arrangements are under the care of JA Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, NS (477.5601), where visitation will be held on Thursday from 6-8 PM.  The funeral service will be held on Friday, June 27, 2014 at 11 AM from the funeral home chapel, with Rev.
