Obituary of Helen C. "Sissy" Nowe

Nowe, Helen C. "Sissy":  69, Halifax, NS, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII.  Born in Halifax, she was the eldest daughter of the late Henry and Helen C. (Slaunwhite) Nowe.  Affectionately known as Sissy to all who knew and loved her, she was a joyful, happy and positive person, and will be remembered as being happy-go-lucky.  Sissy always made people laugh; her innocent humour was a quality that was unforgettable.  She loved everyone she came in contact with and her gentle way left people wanting to spend more time with her cheerful personality.  She will forever be remembered by her family as being an incredible and irreplaceable human being.  Sissy loved animals, especially dogs and her cat, "Tippy".  She is survived by her companion of 20 years, Norman Lively, sisters, Jean Gillis (Jack), Carol Rogers (Donn), Irene Sampson (Art), April Nowe, and Linda Garrison (Cyril), her brothers, Joseph (Marg) Nowe, and Wayne Nowe, all well as numerous special cousins, nieces and nephews.   She was predeceased by her parents, and brothers, Gordon "Dick" (Marg) and Robert "Bobo".  Her sister, Jeanne, would like to express a heartfelt thanks the 4th Floor Medical Day Unit at the VG for all the tenderness shown to Sissy during her many years of on-going care, as well as to all the doctors and nurses of the New Halifax Infirmary 8.3 for all the care given to Sissy.             In keeping with Sissy’s wishes, cremation has taken place under the care of JA Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, NS (477.5601), where visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.  A service of remembrance in memory of Sissy will be held on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 11 AM from the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Gordon Relf as clergy.  A reception will follow the service.  Interment will take place in Church of the GoodShepherdCemetery, Beaverbank, NS.  Family flowers only by request, in lieu, donations may be made to the SPCA.  Words of comfort may be sent to the family by visiting www.walkerfh.com.      "You are my sunshine, my only sunshine"
