Obituary of Carolyn Marion Millington

Age 82, Halifax, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 3, 2014 at her residence. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Dawson and Marion (McCarthy) Lohnes. Carolyn grew up on Parker St. in Halifax where she graduated from QEHS in 1949.  She attended the Halifax Academy where she completed her secretarial degree. She was a founding member of the Beta Sigma Phi, and a member for over 50 years.  Carolyn lived at many locations such as CFB Rivers, Manitoba and Chateauguay, Montreal during her married military life.  She had many vocations throughout her life and retired in Clementsport, NS, where she spent her time golfing and socializing at the Legion.  She was part of the summer crowd in Hubbards, where she spent many happy days enjoying the Shore Club and Hubbards Beach.  Carolyn was also a member of the Lions Club and the Canadian Legion for many years. She will lovingly be remembered by her sons, David (Anita), England; Paul (Karen) and Mark Millington, both of Halifax; granddaughter, Jennifer Millington, Toronto; grandson, Joseph Millington, Halifax; sister in-law, Jackie Lohnes; nieces, Heather Dionne and Karen Lohnes. She was predeceased by her husband, Allen; brothers, Ronald and Lawrence Lohnes. Arrangements are under the care of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, where a celebration of Carolyn’s life will be held on Friday, October 10 at 2PM, Rev. Denn Guptill officiating. A reception will follow at Melville Heights. Donations in memory may be made to Heart & Stroke Foundation.
