Obituary of Frederick T. "Fred" Hollett

81, Halifax, passed away unexpectedly at home in Halifax on Saturday, October 4, 2014. Born in Halifax on February 7, 1933, Fred had a rewarding professional life as a reporter, photographer and cartoonist.  He worked for the Chronicle Herald (Halifax), Telegram, Toronto Star, and as Creative Director at Ogilvy & Mather (Canada) until retirement. He was an avid Red Sox fan and spent many springs in Florida at the Red Sox training camps and delighted in their 2013 World Series win. He loved to swim at the Waegwoltic and Needham pools. Fred was very proud of his talented and successful children, whom he is survived by, Michael, Kathy, Shari and Traci; several grandchildren; second wife, Terri Hollett, all of Toronto; brother, John (Lisa), and his closest cousins, Sybil and Austin Carter, Halifax; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Laura Maude (Reid) and Harry Rideout Hollett and also his first wife, Patricia Steuben. In honour of Fred’s life, a graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 14 at 11AM in St. John’s Cemetery.
