Obituary of Judith Carol Berthier

Age 71, Halifax, passed peacefully August 30, 2016 in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born December 22, 1944, she was the youngest daughter of the late Frances (Wavrock) and the late Ladimer Deschetza, stepdaughter of the late Theda (McElmon) Deschetza. After graduating Halifax County Vocational High School (1963), Judy progressed from Secretary to Personal Assistant to the British Consul, Halifax. She had worked a short time with Kelly Services and then in 1986 she became Marketing/Sales/Promotion Secretary at World Trade and Convention Centre, Halifax, until her retirement in 2008. Judy volunteered as director and secretary of two Condominium Associations for more than 37 years, and recently as secretary for the NS Government Retied Employees Association. Fondly remembered by family and friends for her passion for anything Strawberry, Judy enjoyed reading, photography, angel food cakes, shopping, her Chihuahuas, and several fine collections. Judy is survived by her steadfast, loving husband, of 43 years, Francis "Frank" Berthier; sisters, Mary (Daniel) Oliver, Ramara, ON; Jeanette Mombourquette, Halifax; niece, Debra (Christopher) Grantham; nephew, Gregory (Julene) Mombourquette; grand nieces, Stephanie and Elizabeth Grantham and Elena Mombourquette; grand nephew, Rogan Mombourquette, all of Halifax. She was predeceased by brother, David Brian Deschetza, and brother-in-law, Harold Mombourquette. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. 149 Herring Cove Rd. where a memorial service will be held on Wednesday September 7 at 2:00 pm. Memorial donations may go to the Canadian Diabetes Association, or charity of choice. Heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the QEII for their care and consideration.
