Obituary of Hillary Lynn Welsh

It is with broken hearts that,  we, the family of Hillary Lynn Welsh announce her sudden passing, on June 15 2023 at the IWK  Hospital, Halifax, NS.  Born in Halifax on March 13, 1987, she is the only daughter of Cindy Welsh and Darrell Evans.  Hillary was employed with Customer First Financial, where she worked as a customer account manager. 

Hillary was as beautiful on the inside, as she was on the outside.  She was someone everyone could count on, always putting others first.  She will always be remembered for her kind heart and giving nature, as well as for her love of everything butterflies.  

Hillary is survived by and will be deeply missed by the love of her life, her best friend and her soulmate, Bryan MacKenzie, their treasured newborn baby boy, Grayson David, and her fur baby, Bella.  She is also survived by her parents, Cindy Welsh and Darrell Evans (Christine), her grandfather, Ralph "Puppy" Evans (who passed away the day after Hillary), her step-father, Allen Deane (Shelley), as well as  aunts and  uncles, Michael, Donna (Andy), Lynn,  Paula (Paul), Lisa (Jeff), Carrie (Richard), Kathy (Barry), and Dawn, and numerous special cousins, too many to mention. Surviving also are her step-siblings, Darren and Holley, as well as Janet Grattan and Steven MacKenzie, who were to be her in-laws.  Hillary will be also missed by her wonderful group of friends and co-workers. 

She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Donnie and Lannie Welsh, her paternal grandmother, Barbara Evans, and an aunt, Sherry Welsh.

Hillary’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff of 5A and the NICU South of the IWK for their wonderful care, as well as to all family and friends who offered love and support during this very difficult time.  Special thanks to all who made donations in memory of Hillary, to Rev. Elaine Walcott for her words of comfort, and to Erin Jennings for her kindness and compassion.   All the kindness will never be forgotten.

There will be no visitation by request.  A celebration of Hillary’s life will be held at a later date.  In memory of Hillary, please make donations to a charity that will benefit a child.

There are no words

To express the pain and sorrow you feel today

For a woman, a mother and daughter who passed away

So young and vibrant, with the world ahead of her

There are no words, just tears and a blur

There are no words to take away the loss

And suffering you will bear today

Just memories you have of a person who lived

And shared a hug, a laugh or two, with the people she loved

And that is you!

To Grayson, her son, and Bryan her partner

There are no words that will fill the hole she left for you

To Cindy, her mom, the pain you bear

May you always cherish the love you shared

There are no words, only a hug or two

To comfort you as you walk grief through

May you feel the love that surrounds you today

And find some peace in this little boy, I pray

Hillary left you a gift, a miracle boy from above

To treasure and teach about forgiveness and love

May the days ahead be filled with peace

As you travel this road together in grief

Of a loss so strong you feel today

Hold on to each other with love and say

We will meet again in heaven some day
