Loretta Ann Dawson

June 28, 1951 – January 20, 2024

 

After a lengthy illness, it's with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved sister, Loretta, on January 20, 2024. Predeceased by her parents, Douglas and Loretta Dawson, her sisters, Muriel and Agnes. Loretta is survived by sisters, Jackie, Halifax, Sheila (Livingston), North Carolina, and Ethel, Toronto, brothers, Bob (Betty Anne), Ottawa, Richard, Red Deer, and Jimmy, Brampton, as well as nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, numerous cousins, and long-time companion, Billy McIssac, Halifax.  

 

Loretta was an avid Special Olympian. In her earlier years, she was involved in track and field and bocci, while in her later years she was active in bowling. Loretta touched many lives with her sense of humour, caring nature and willingness to help others. She'll be deeply missed by her family and many friends.

 

Members of the family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and health care workers at the Halifax Infirmary and Victoria General Hospitals for their kindness, medical care and family support during Loretta's illness.  

 

Visitation will take place Friday, July 19, 2024 at 11:00 am at J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (149 Herring Cove Road) followed by a funeral service at 1:00 pm. A reception will be held at 2:30 pm at the Golden Age Senior Centre (212 Herring Cove Road). Cremation interment will take place Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 12:00 pm at Mount Hermon Cemetery in Dartmouth (139 Victoria Road).
