Obituary of Viola Julia Carr
Our family is deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of Viola Julia Carr (Diggins), aged 74 of Beaverbank, NS on Saturday June 22, 2019. Viola passed peacefully in her sleep at home. She was born to parents Arthur and Leota (Warren) Diggins of Mulgrave, NS. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Curtis Howard Carr; their children, Michelle (Harold) Flynn, Trevor Carr (Claire), Natalie (Brent) Davis, Nicole Carr (Mark Strangward). Grandchildren: Tamara, Martine, Ashleigh, Brandin, Kyle, Austin, Bailey, Gage, Ryan, Colin, Rachel and Chase and 9 Great Grandchildren. Siblings: Theresa (Art) Carter, Ada (Chester), Tom (Chris), Bob, Florence, Eric (Patty) Diggins. She is predeceased by both parents, and a brother, Harry, in infancy.
She wore a few different occupational hats and worked various jobs. Viola worked for the Daily News for many years, but was most proud of her position at the Atlantic Pilotage Authority in Halifax, from where she retired after spending 35 years working with the organization. Post retirement, Viola worked at the Staples Call Centre in Sackville.
Viola loved to spend time with family; you could always count on her preparing a large delicious meal for the whole family. She truly enjoyed seeing everyone together with a full tummy. She loved traveling, reading her romance novels, a good cup of tea from Tim Hortons (Where she had made many friends over the years. Viola enjoys playing Darts and Crib with Curtis. You could find them at the Newfoundland Club in Dartmouth. Most of all, attending Church. Viola was a congregant of Saint John Vianney for many years, until the stairs became too difficult to navigate, at which time she found her second home with God at Saint Elizabeth Seton Church, both located in Lower Sackville. Viola was part of the Catholic Woman’s League of Canada.
