Obituary of Sergio Di Quinzio
Age 72, of Halifax, passed away on Monday, March 5, 2018, surrounded by loved ones. Born in Penne, Italy, he was a son of the late Gabriele Di Quinzio and Maria Palma (De Fabritiis).
Sergio spent his working life at Arnoldin Construction. He was an avid gardener, and his wine-making adventures were always a family event. You could never leave his house without a bottle of homemade wine. He was generous and gregarious and could rhyme anything at the drop of a dime. He had a quick wit and the most sparkling blue eyes.
Sergio is survived by his wife, Eva (De Fabritiis); daughter, Maria (Rob Martin); son, Lucio (Michelle); he loved his grandchildren, Luca and Dante (Martin) and Matteo and Franco; brothers, Camillo (Anna) and Tony (Bonnie), Halifax and Giuseppe, Italy; sisters, Teresa, Maria, Velia, Marcella and Tina, Italy. He is also survived by many cousins, Loris (Emilia), Elio (Dona), Dino (Teresa) and Claudio (Tina), Halifax, many cousins in Italy, and many loving nephews and nieces in Canada, Scotland and Italy. He was predeceased by brother, Dante (Velina).
Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, where visitation will be held on Friday, March 9 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 10 at 11 AM in Saint Catherine of Siena Parish, Fr. Francesco Pirisi as Celebrant; with reception to follow. Interment will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in Sergio’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
