Erin began her career in Funeral Services in 1993.  In 1995, she attended Funeral Services Education, Kingstec Community College, Kentville, NS and successfully graduated in June 1996.   Upon completion of college, she began working at Brenan’s Funeral Home in Saint John, NB, her native city, where she obtained her New Brunswick Funeral Director and Embalming licenses.  For about a decade she proudly served families for Brenan’s in Saint John.  In 2003, Erin moved to Halifax, NS, obtained her Nova Scotia licenses, and briefly worked for a local funeral home.  In 2004, she took a position with Dalhousie Medical Science, where she worked as the resident cadaver embalmer.  In March of 2005, she partnered with her former Brenan’s employers, Bill and Stephen MacMackin of Select Community Funeral Homes, and together they purchased J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd.  For the past 16 years, Erin has owned and operated J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd in the community of Spryfield, a suburb of Halifax, NS.  Over the 14 years, Erin has worked with The Funeral Service Association of Nova Scotia, serving as President.  She was also the government appointee to the Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers of Nova Scotia, where she served a term.  She is a member of Funeral Services Association of Nova Scotia, Funeral Services Association of Canada, The National Funeral Directors Association, along with the Spryfield Business Commission, where she also is a past director.  Erin’s passion is to serve her community and families with dignity and respect, offering diversity and choices for all.  For 25 years, she has served each family as if they are her own.

Jamie Utronkie

Jamie was born and raised in the Ottawa Valley in Ontario (Killaloe/Round Lake/Wilno area). In 1998 he moved to the city of Ottawa where he enrolled at Carleton University in the Commerce program. While in studies he worked at a number of interesting summer student jobs such as at the British High Commission (in the accounts department), The Royal Canadian Mint (in the production department where Canadian coins are made) as well as a number of Credit Unions throughout the city (where he worked primarily as a teller). After graduating with a B. Com. (Economics/Accounting) degree he pursued further education and obtained a B. Th. degree and M. Div. through Dominican University College/University of Toronto (curriculum) as well as taking some canon law credits through St. Paul's University.  Jamie then relocated to Nova Scotia in 2009 and functioned as a minister for 8 years, first in the community of Spryfield/Herring Cove/Ketch Harbour, for 1 year, then for the next 7 years in Lower Sackville. It was in his job as a minister that his desire to become a funeral director became apparent. After leaving ministry Jamie enrolled in the Funeral & Allied Health Services Program at NSCC Kingstec in 2017 while apprenticing and being employed under Arbor Memorial, where he became dual licensed in 2019. Jamie has been employed with J. Albert Walker Funeral Home since October 2021.
