Obituary of Gary D. Shaddock

SHADDOCK, Gary Donald – Halifax, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 20, 2010. Gary was born in St. Catherine’s Ontario on April 30, 1943 to the late Lewis and Marjorie Shaddock At the age of 17 he joined the Canadian Armed Forces and made Halifax his home. Gary was with the forces for 25 years. His second career was with Lockheed Martin for 20 years. Gary had a calm and easy going nature with a great sense of humor. He was also independent and strong, which helped us all deal with his illness. Family was very important to him and he was very proud of his family and being a papa. He will be dearly missed by his wife Virginia; sons, Wayne (Sherry) and Christopher (Melina); daughter, Linda (Edmund); half sister Patricia Reddette; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Samantha, Kristina, Matthew, Jenna, Chase and Olivia; great granddaughter, Makayla Rose. He was predeaseced by brother Wayne Shaddock. Arrangements are under the direction of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. 149 Herring Cove Road, Spryfield (477-5601), where visitation will be held on Thursday, August 26 from 6-8 PM. A service of remembrance will be held on Friday, August 27 at 1 PM from the funeral home chapel, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gary’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
