Obituary of Graham MacKay
MACKAY, N. Graham - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Graham MacKay, 54, of Halifax, on September 11, 2010.
Born in Sydney, Cape Breton, Graham was a graduate of Sydney Academy. He attended the College of Cape Breton and later obtained a degree in Political Science from Dalhousie University. His career spanned many years in the construction industry and for the past several years was employed by Acklands-Grainger where he was highly regarded for his expertise. Graham had a passion for knowledge and was never far from a newspaper, a new book, “The Boss”, or a good conversation. The Mira, New England and Florida ranked as his top three travel destinations. He was a tried and true Mooseheads fan. Most of all he loved Sharon, his friends and family. He will be dearly missed.
Graham leaves behind, Sharon O’Connell, his partner of twenty years, many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Neil; mother, Mae; brother, Sheldon and another brother in infancy. Graham was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Arrangements are under the direction of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. 149 Herring Cove Road, Spryfield (477-5601). A celebration of Graham’s life will be held on Friday, September 17 at 2 PM from the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Psoriasis Society of Canada or the Halifax/Dartmouth Branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association.
