Obituary of John L. Musolino

MUSOLINO, John Lawrence – 88, Halifax, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, September 16, 2010 in the QEII Health Sciences Center. John was born in Dartmouth, to the late Vincent and Emma (Starling) Musolino. John served in the Army with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders during the Second World War. He later owned and operated Alvina’s Flower Shop and in his spare time he was a musician, singer, songwriter and author. John will lovingly be remembered and never forgotten by his wife Alvina; children, Doreen (Don), Eugene (Sandra), Angelo Jr., Randall (Barb), Gary (Paula), Darrell (Susan), and Michele; daughter-in-law, Janice; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and 15 grand animals; sister, Doris “Doll”; brothers, Cyril, David and their families; many special friends and neighbors. He was predeceased by daughter-in-law, Patsy; granddaughter, Lisa and great-granddaughter Laura; brother, Angelo; sisters, Jean and Marjorie. Arrangements have been entrusted to J.A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, (477-5601), where visitation will be held on Sunday, September 19 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held on Monday, September 20 at 2 pm from the funeral home chapel, Rev. Dianna Frye officiating, with a reception to follow. Interment to take place in Emmanuel Anglican Cemetery. Donations in John’s memory may be made to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). The family would like to extend special thanks to Stacey for her devoted care and compassion, also to Donna T., Rita and Erma for their undying support and to Janice Wiscombe, our resident Chef.
